Warhol Beijing show cancelled

Red Box has the scoop.
Despite numerous verbal commitments to the contrary, the Ministry of Culture decided to cancel Faurschou Beijing’s exhibition of Andy Warhol portraits. Employing nationalistic hyperbole that likened the opening of foreign galleries in 798 to a “foreign invasion” of the once humble art district, the Ministry ordered the more than ten Warhol works to remain in customs for the duration of the Games, causing the gallery to cancel the exhibition and send the works back to Europe.
