Photo report- paper making at Weihai 696 and other CNY scenes

Feb 18th, 2010 | By Chris | Category: Paintblog, Random Shanghai stuff...

Its Chinese New Year, besides the usual fireworks and mass transit issues, Shanghai’s week of downtime lets people do other things too. Shanghai Eye was roped into doing a spot of paper making by Weihai Road 696 studio neighbour Yiqian, as it isn’t raining. Yiqian has an MFA from Chicago. I also visited Shanghai Science Museum, and Zhou Tiehai’s other new show opening at Shanghart Huaihai Road 796.

UPDATE on the topic of fireworks Shanghaiist reports:
While Beijing might be getting the most attention from media right now, the real show was in Shanghai. Apparently, we beat them in fireworks usage by about 200 tons. That’s right, the capital city of China only managed to throw up 800 tons of explosions into the air compared to our 1000. Lame!
